Looking into the Eye of the Creations

Wonder of Murals
Have you ever wonder if the murals around the Gowanus canal has a story behind
them? The image I want to is a group of people working together painting a mural. Two important facts you should know about why people build or paint murals is because they might have a story behind the Gowanus canal. The group of people that helped community builders are called “the Gowanus canal conservancy ”.
Who Made Them
On August 21st, volunteers helped paint the first six 4’ x 8’ panels around the Gowanus canal they are placed 95% of areas on the map. people who joined to help make the canal better did meetings about the murals and made posters for people to help with this problem. People should care about this because it brings people together and it’s a good thing to do and have in the neighborhood and it keeps kids out the streets and doing bad things. Building and paint murals is a very creative and fun thing to do.
Why Care
People has the freedom of speech to do and say what they want and sometimes it can offend people who are looking at it, sometimes people draw murals of how they feel which can get people upset. Public art has the power to inspire or create conflict. for example it can offend people in different ways, one source has shown a train running over a Indian person, that can offend people because it is upsetting and depressing. This benefit the G.C because it makes the community a more creative and attracting space instead of an all one color space.
Negativity
One negative thing about murals is that it can affect people and how they feel about it,one example is a guy on a mural is holding a gun towards his head. One source has shown a man willing to shoot himself. This would harm the community because people will get offended and feel like that should not be allowed in the community because kids are also looking at it.
