Warning water is polluted !!!!

Can you imagine living near water that has bacteria,dead animals, and worst of all dead people. Well, you are. This is happening because of factories and other kinds of pollution. The most cause that makes the water polluted are factories.In Brooklyn at the Gowanus Canal.The water is nasty and has the worst chemicals like gas and others. The factories  makes the water worse and worse. Why? Because they keep dumping their waste in the canal. When the class of BCS went to the Gowanus Canal the water looked bad but at least it was moving if it was not moving it would have been really bad. The Gowanus Canal Conservancy (GCC) is trying their best to make the canal green and clean.

“The canal was a salt marsh until 1849 that became a dumping ground”(scientific american) . After that they still didn't do anything about it.“Even after 30 years of regulation,water pollution is still a big problem”(pbs.com).This shows that no one is helping the canal be green and clean.Pollution is when the air or water has chemicals and affects the water and air by dirtying the water and also making acid clouds.Many types of pollutions are in the canal.“In 1910, a local businessman was already describing the canal’s water as almost solid with sewage ( New York magazine).This is a type of pollution .   

We should care about the canal because the water from the Atlantic ocean is also getting affected by  this because when the canal is getting flushed out it go to the oceans  that is really bad.This will affect the people who live around it and also will affect wildlife such as fish and other sea or land animals.“In  2007, a minkle whale swam into the canal, beached itself,and died.”(New York magazine) This is also killing wildlife.The  only thing it is helping factories why because they keep dumping their waste.If we don’t stop it who knows what happens.  We should change the canal and make it green and clean.

We should start helping the canal.If not the water will stay polluted and things will get worse.Why should we support the canal because it’s for our own good.Come help the  the Gowanus canal conservancy.The Gowanus canal conservancy is trying to make the canal green that means that they are see what wildlife can survive the water and started to plant stuff that can also survive the water.So come make the canal clean and green.Fun fact : Some plants can suck up toxic and other chemicals .
